This month’s meeting will be held via Zoom and hosted by Nancy Kavathas and called “Creativi-Tea”. You provide your favorite tea & treats or other beverage and Nancy will provide the instructions. There will be two parts.
The first part will be making boxes out of greeting cards. You will need: one or more old greeting/holiday cards, a pencil, eraser, ruler, scissors, glue stick (I use Elmer’s washable school glue stick – disappearing purple) and 2 metal clips (optional but very helpful) to hold glued areas in place until dry. (You will get written instructions later to have for future reference.) This project will be quick.
Then on to the second part, the creative process; we will be making mandalas. You will need: a piece of paper (nothing too thin or too small) and something to draw with; colored pencils or colored markers are ideal. Crayons, cray-pas or colored charcoal work as well. Choose something with choices of color and medium you enjoy working with. This will also work with just a pencil or black marker, but not as much fun. If you don’t have any paper and can’t get something from the store or neighbor, use a brown grocery bag and cut it open on the seam. You will need something round to trace a circle. A large mixing bowl from your kitchen works nicely. Make sure your paper is large enough to trace your bowl with some extra space around it. Set up your workspace with everything ready so we can jump right in. This is not about making something beautiful. This is about expressing our own inner being, unique to each one of us. Everyone is creative; no one can do what you can! Stay out of judgement and let’s have fun!
